Florida’s space Coast is one of a few places on Earth where visitors can witness a rocket launch

If you are visiting to view a launch, you have two great viewing options:
Kennedy Space Center: A limited number of Launch Transportation Tickets for viewing selected Expendable Launch Vehicle launches on Center are available for purchase through KSC Visitor complex. This ticket provides transportation to the KSC Visitor Complex viewing site 7 miles from the shuttle pads. Launch viewing also available within the Visitor Complex at the Rocket Garden. Public Launch Viewing Venues: Even though Kennedy Space Center offers the best seats in the house
there are also many prime viewing areas outside of the complex such as along the shores of the Indian River
U.S. Space Walk of Fame, the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, the Cocoa Beach Pier or any of the beaches south of Port Canaveral.

Launch Site: SLC-41, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida
The United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket will launch NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory mission. The centerpiece of MSL is the Curiosity rover, which will assess whether Mars ever was, or is still today, an environment able to support microbial life and to determine the planet’s habitability. The rocket will fly in the 541 vehicle configuration with a five-meter fairing, four solid rocket boosters and a single-engine Centaur upper stage.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the second Dragon spacecraft, called Dragon C2. The mission will demonstrate proximity operations during an approach within 6 miles of the International Space Station. The company is building the Dragon to fly on resupply missions to the orbiting lab.

The United Launch Alliance Delta 4 rocket will launch the fourth Wideband Global SATCOM spacecraft built by Boeing. This will serve U.S. military forces.

February 2012 • Atlas 5 • MUOS 1

Launch Site: SLC-41, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida
The United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket will launch the first Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite for the U.S. Navy. Built by Lockheed Martin, this U.S. military spacecraft will improve ground communications for U.S. forces on the move.

The United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket will launch the second Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite built by Lockheed Martin. This U.S. military spacecraft will provide highly-secure communications.
